Our People

The Chair and Company Secretary is Yusuf Khan, who administers the running of the Police Action Centre.

Our Director of Legal & Policy is Sophie Khan, a civil rights lawyer specialising in Actions Against the Police and Inquest Law. She has been specialising in Actions Against the Police and Inquest Law for several years and also campaigns on police-related issues such as the excessive use of Tasers, indiscriminate use of stop and search and against police surveillance.

She has acted for families whose relatives have died following police contact and police restraint. She continues to raise awareness of the need to improve police training around the use of restraint to take into account the risks and consequences so as to prevent future deaths during arrest or in police custody.

She has written regularly on police law and had a dedicated blog ‘On the beat’ at the Solicitors Journal.

She is a trustee of the Stop and Search Legal Project (SSLP) an educational project run by a collective of volunteer lawyers.

We have a number of volunteers who assist with the advice clinic and research projects

As the organisation grows we will seek to recruit interns to assist with the advice clinic and research projects.
